In the beginning …

A bit of history…

Château La Borie was built in the 18th century by Louis Charles de la Baume-Suze, a descendant of the Princes of Orange, and his wife, Lady Olympe Émilie de Suffren de Saint-Tropez.10dame1WP

On July 27th 1850, Marquise Ernestine Madeleine Alix des Isnards, wife of Count Hubert Denys Marie d’Anselme inherited Château La Borie from her father the Marquis Gabriel Martial des Isnards and her mother, Marquise Aldonce Marthe Marie Julie de la Baume-Suze.

At the turn of the century it became the property of the Bertrand family, and in 1926 it was bought by the Gonnet family.

Throughout its history, Château La Borie served as an extension for the Suze château to which it was connected via underground galleries dug by the knight’s templar. Surrounded by immense oak forests, it was also put to use as a hunting manor.

90Tour2Today the oak forest has given way to 110 hectares of vines planted on the gravel slopes of the domain. On the gently sloping hillside you will find the three grape varieties used to produce the award winning Château la Borie wines: Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre.
