Soil preparation

During May, we prepare the lands which are going to be planted the year after. It consists in kicking down the plot of land in depth by means of a plough which goes down up to about 0,80 meter and to bring thorough fertilizers. We take advantage of it to extract big stones which are raised to the surface and to remove the roots. This operation is very important because it conditions the quality and the lifetime of the future plantation.

Ploughing

The ploughing is done very regularly from December till July. It is essential for :
the aeration of the ground,
the uncrunshing of the ground,
the mechanical weeding,
the holding back of rains water,

We use an inter-stock plough which ploughs between stocks what allows to avoid the use of chemical weed killers.

Manuring

Fertilizers are spread on the ground during winter (December to February). They are organic (fertilizers) type  essentially. Contributions of magnesia allow to reduce chloroses observed on some plots of land and so to improve the photosynthesis and so the quality. Analyses of ground are made regularly by the laboratory of Suze-la-Rousse's university to keep control on the quantities spread and so the yields which are the key factor for the quality.
