Margnat, beginnings
In fact Jacques Margnat is
born in a tub full of wine, a tub of wine of current
consumption but which at that time was an excellent wine
since one could associate wines of Algeria to wines of south
of France. Six years of military service of which 30 months
at war. He will gain at it the Cross of the world war II and
as his brothers or his cousin Emile he will not look for
glory as a result. All of them did their duty.
At the end of war, began then as for many the time of the
reconstruction. This was done under the family name. In the
same way as aperitifs as Byrrh, Cinzano or Picon. The tandem
Lyon Marseille was quickly reconstituted. Marseille should
quickly exceed Lyon. Bordeaux started by creating
immediately an antenna of distribution in Toulouse. The
family launched in 1947 an operation in west of France
(Bretagne) starting from scratch but with the up to date
facilities. In a way that from 1952 the line Brest Lyon cut
France in two separate regions. The South was already the
uncontested territory of the patronymic brand. The North was
a no man's land for the family. All this was made possible,
at the end of the war, by one only asset that was the
quality of the family's signature inherited of the father,
Edouard Margnat. Strengthened by the pledge at leasfor
a while of the estates in Algeria.
