| Two
families
The end of the Algerian
adventure was more bitter. In 1960, further to the solemn
commitments of the General de Gaulle to insure the
perpetuity of the territory and the French presence in three
French departments. This was in relation with the framework
of a new status accepted by both parts. Both families
continued to invest massively in Algeria. Plantation of 110
acres of orange trees in En-Naro. Real-estate operation
(construction of 38 apartments) in 1961.
The events which followed brought both families to join on
Chateau La Borie. It is Paul and Robert Margnat, as well as
Leon Bories who helped Emile in his searches in Corsica, in
Canada, and finally in the Rhone valley. If it is Paul and
Robert who found the estate, it is Jacques and his
children who stayed with Emile in 1978 when the three
brothers (Paul, Robert and Jacques Margnat) decided to part
in the most total serenity after 50 years of a perfect
partnership. The split was to allow their 10 children to go
for businesses not centered any more exclusively on the
wine.
