| Chateau La
Borie
...was
built in the XVIIIth
century by descendant of the family of the Princes of Orange
Louis Charles of Baume-Suze and his wife Lady Olympe Émilie
de Suffren of Saint-Tropez.
On July 27,
1850, the Marchioness Ernestine Madeleine Alix des
Isnards
wife of the Count Hubert Denys
Marie d'Anselme inherited
Chateau La Borie from her father the
Marquees Gabriel Martial des Isnards and of her mother the
Marchioness Aldonce Marthe Marie Julie of the Baume-Suze.
At
the beginning of 1900's Chateau La Borie belongs to
the family Bertrand, and in 1926 it is acquired by the
family Gonnet.
The
Chateau
La Borie
was, according to the winds of the history, sometimes a country
house for
hunters,
in the middle of immense oak forests, sometimes the advanced
bastion of Suze's castle with which it is connected by long
subterranean galleries dug by the Knight Templars
some centuries
ago.
Today, on the rocky and airy hillsides of this estate
of 272
acres,
vineyards replaced the oaks forest partially. 175
acres are vineyards partly in the Côtes du Rhône area and
partly in the Côtes du Rhône Villages area.
Chateau
La Borie is
situated on hills with slight
slopes, vines are issued of varietals like Syrah,
Grenache and Mourvedre.
The result is
a magnificent red wine that is regularly rewarded
during the agricultural shows.
